February Newsletter
Hi hi hi!
Okay, so, technically I’m aware that February is over and I didn’t quiiiiiite make it under the wire to get this newsletter out before the end-of-month, BUT I blame the fact that there are less days in Feb, and the days we did have seemed to have passed by in the blink of an eye. (Seriously, how on earth can we be in March already?? IT’S ALREADY AUTUMN! HOW DID THAT HAPPEN!?!?! I’d like to speak with a manager, please and thank you.)
Time-vanishing panic aside, there are some fun things in this newsletter, including events I’m doing — that’s right! Events! I’ll be seeing people! And signing things! And talking about books! ALL THE YAYS!! — and some exciting announcements about upcoming releases, as well as maybe a sneaky teaser quote and a few other things, so let’s get straight into it!
UPCOMING EVENTS:
It seems weird to be announcing events again, especially after having to cancel and/or postpone so many over the last few years because of The Annoying Thing That Was (And Still Is) Annoying, but I’m so pleased to share that I have some appearances coming up on the Gold Coast (x2), in Melbourne, and in Sydney. Alas, I can’t share about Sydney yet, but I wanted to let NSW peeps know that I’ll be coming soon, and you should keep an eye on my social media for any announcements about that.
As for the events I can talk about:
I’m so happy to reveal that I’ll be heading to Supanova Gold Coast and Melbourne next month (April 15-16 for Goldie, and April 22-23 for Melbs). I’ll share my signing/panelling schedule over social media once the program is released closer to the event, but in the meantime, you can find the info and get your tickets via the Supanova website here.
I also have another event on the Gold Coast, this one in just a couple of weeks, and it’s Somerset Storyfest which is a literature festival mainly for schools, but the sessions are also open to the public (for all ages). I’m giving 5x author talks (the graphic below shows what days/times I’ll be presenting) and then I’ll be signing books afterwards. There will be a bookseller at the event, or you can bring your own copies from home!
Please note that all of my sessions will be the same talk repeated (me sharing about my writing journey), but the Q&As at the end of each will differ depending on what questions are asked.
Tickets are $8 per person and the direct link for my sessions is here, but also be sure to check out the rest of the program because there are some phenomenal authors attending and you’ll definitely want to see their sessions as well!
UPCOMING RELEASES:
March has some exciting releases for me, one of which is the small-format paperback of The Prison Healer which includes a bonus scene told from Jaren’s point-of-view. I had soooo much fun writing this scene, and I can’t wait for you to read it upon its release on March 14th! I’ll add pre-order links below, but here’s a fun teaser for you:
Now, this book is releasing in AUS/NZ, and the bonus scene is exclusive to this printed book (all 25 pages of it! It’s not a small scene!), BUT the good news for international readers is that you can purchase a copy with free international shipping from the Book Depository by clicking here.
For Aussies (and Kiwis), you can pre-order it from Booktopia here, or QBD here, or any of the other major online retailers. And of course you can also pre-order it from your fave local and/or indie bookstore as well!
… Also! If you’re eager to get in early to pre-order the small-format paperback of The Gilded Cage (with another new bonus scene) — which is releasing just two months later on May 16th — you can do so with the following links.
Book Depository (for international readers), Booktopia and QBD (or again through your fave local bookstore!)
FUN FACT: the exclusive bonus scene in The Gilded Cage is from Torell’s point of view! Aaaaaand the exclusive bonus scene that’ll be coming in The Blood Traitor later this year is from Caldon’s point of view! Eeeee!!
INTERNATIONAL RELEASES:
France, Italy, Spain, and Germany all have releases for The Prison Healer books this month:
And Turkey has just released the second book in The Medoran Chronicles as of March 3rd:
EXTRA NEWS:
Phew, okay, what’s next? Ahhh, I know! Fairyloot have announced that they’ll be doing a reprint of their absolutely gorgeous special edition of The Blood Traitor since it sold out so fast. (I’ve seen people complain that there must not have been many copies in the original print run, but I signed literally thousands of tip-ins for it, so that definitely wasn’t the case! It’s just such a beautiful edition that loads of people wanted it and snapped it up quickly, which makes my little author heart so gosh darn happy!)
This edition includes:
Exclusive cover
Stencil sprayed edges
Reverse dust jacket artwork by @talia.nobel
Foil design on the hardcover by @talia.nobel
Digital signature
Instructions copied directly from Fairyloot’s post:
This is NOT part of our normal monthly subscriptions and if you wish to order a book, they will be available in the Fairy Trove (we ship to most countries worldwide). The Blood Traitor Exclusive Edition will be available for £23 GBP / $30 USD + shipping and is expected to ship around June/July.
On 25th April at 1pm BST, we will send out a private Early Access link to everyone that purchased our edition of The Gilded Cage. We will then send out an Early Access email to all active subscribers at 2pm BST, and if we have any stock remaining, these will be available in the Fairy Trove to the general public on 26th April at 1pm BST. This is the only time we will be offering a reprint of The Blood Traitor Exclusive Edition.

SALE SALE SALE!!
Last but not least on the news front, there’s a flash sale happening in the US/CAN this week only (March 6th-12th) for the e-book and audiobook of The Gilded Cage to celebrate Female Authors Week (not gonna lie, I had no idea that was a thing, but hey, if it means a bookish sale, then woohoo!):
I think that’s all for my news this month! It’s a bit all over the place with events and releases and sales and bonus extras, but hopefully you were able to get some helpful info about a few things!
As for a quick life update before I sign off:
I went to the cinemas for the first time since before the pandemic, so that was exciting (and a little bit nerve-racking)! I saw the new Avatar: The Way of Water and while my backside was killing me after sitting for so long (TMI, lol? But seriously, it’s like a 3.5 hour movie, so with ads that makes it nearly 4 hours = yikes!), I really enjoyed it, so I’m glad I went. Especially since I saw it in 3D, just like the first one!
I also went to a school theatre performance of the broadway musical Anastasia and that was delightful! (The music was incredible!!) As an avid fan of the animated movie, I was really surprised by some of the plot differences, though in hindsight, I guess it might have been tricky to have a talking bat-thing(?) and an evil sorcerer person who is falling apart thanks to a magical curse. Still, despite the changes, the nostalgia was there, and I loved it!
Hmm, what else?
I’m currently reading: The Girl Who Fell From The Sky by Emma Carey (omg feeeeeels!!)
I’m currently watching: Since I’m (mostly) trying to write, to keep from getting too distracted, I’m just re-watching things I’ve seen before — recently I’ve restarted Lost In Space on Netflix. BUT I’m very much looking forward to binging the new season of Shadow and Bone when it releases this month!
I’m currently writing: I just finished Caldon’s bonus scene for The Blood Traitor (I truly can’t express how much I love him!!! Also, eeek, his bonus “scene” ended up being over 10,000 words, which is like the length of 3-4 solid chapters, so it’s, um, rather long 😅), which means I’m heading back to drafting my next book! It’s been slow-going for a lot of personal reasons, but I’m looking forward to seeing how it all comes together now that I can give it some dedicated mental space!
How I’m relaxing: Swimming laps at night as much as I can before the weather turns too cold, and of course regular walks on the beach!
Righto, I think I’ll leave it there for this newsletter! I hope to see some of you at my upcoming events! And in the meantime, happy reading!
