October Newsletter
Helloooooooo, friends! Welcome to another newsletter!
I meant to send this out last month, but if you’ve been following my updates on social media, you’ll know I’ve been buried in my drafting hobbit hole, which has taken all of my time and attention. But I’m thrilled to share that I’ve finished writing a new book, and now I’m catching up on everything I missed while I was fictionally away in [redacted].
*Snickers* Don’t hate me — I just can’t talk about this book yet! But as soon as I have any news, you’ll be the first to hear!
Other than drafting, there have been a few exciting things happen during the last month, one of which is that I announced a glorious special collector’s edition of The Prison Healer which is releasing on December 1st:
You can pre-order this beauty (and see real-life photos of it) by clicking here.
One thing to note is that this edition is exclusive to Booktopia Books, and they only post to AUS/NZ postal addresses — however, there’s a group called the Global Book Hunters Guild who offer a service where they post books/merch from Australia to the rest of the world, so if you live internationally and you want to grab this gorgeous edition, contact them to find out how to make that happen.
Now, for my Medoran fans, the absolutely spectacular Turkish edition of Akarnae released a few weeks ago, and I know a number of you would like to get your hands on a copy (despite not being able to read it, lol) — so I’ve been told by some savvy fans that you can do so through this online bookstore (the link takes you directly to a page showing both the paperback and hardcover editions). Note that the website is in Turkish, but if you open it from your laptop/computer browser, you can click up the top to translate the page to English. Full disclosure, I tested this myself, and it worked out at about AUD$60 to get both the paperback and the hardcover (shipping is the real pricey part, not the books themselves — so it’s about that price for just one book on its own.) But I’ve heard from those who went through with the sale, and they confirmed that the books have arrived to them (in Australia) without any problems, so that’s awesome news!
Here’s some pics in case you haven’t yet seen this beauty:
EVENT NEWS!
Something else exciting coming up is that I’m doing a signing event in Brisbane this coming weekend! (November 5-6)
That’s right — I’ll be seeing people! And signing books! And speaking on panels! And it begs repeating, SEEING PEOPLE! I can't wait! I’ll be at Supanova Comic Con and Gaming all day Saturday and Sunday (signing the whole time, outside of breaks), and speaking on a panel both days. The schedule has just released (you can find it here — but the image below shows where you can find me specifically) and you can grab tickets here.
Books will be sold at the event, but you can also bring your own from home! There’s no cost for me to sign them (unless you buy them on the day, in which case, it’s the price of the book/s) so all you need is your ticket through the front door, and you’re golden!
SIGNED AND PERSONALISED BOOKS:
Christmas is right around the corner (YAY!), so I’ve chatted with the fab peeps at my local Harry Hartog bookstore and they’ll be offering SIGNED and PERSONALISED books for sale (ie. I’ll write your name/someone else’s name + my signature), and they’ll have them posted out in time for Christmas. These would make great Christmas gifts (or even just to treat yourself!), so make sure you take advantage of this while you can! All of my books will be available in paperback editions (The Medoran Chronicles, the Whisper duology, The Prison Healer trilogy), and you can order by phoning the store (07) 5451 1878 next week.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
1) Orders MUST be in during the week of November 7-13 (Monday-Sunday) and only via the above phone number during store opening hours
2) Stock is LIMITED so this is "first in, best dressed" while stocks last
3) Orders can only be sent to Australian postal addresses — HOWEVER, if you live overseas, I mentioned earlier about a group called Global Book Hunters Guild who offer a service where they post books/merch from Australia to the rest of the world, so if you live internationally and you want to grab a signed/personalised book/s, contact them to find out how to make that happen. (Keep in mind that the books likely won’t reach you by Christmas — that’s only guaranteed for Aus postal addresses!)
ONLINE STORE UPDATE:
I’ll be opening my online store for 24 hours this week (Tuesday at 5pm AEST to Wednesday at 5pm AEST) to sell the remaining fleece blankets, along with some other large items like cushion covers, tea towels, and t-shirts (check out my social media to see images of everything available). I won’t have paper products on offer during this opening, since it’s purely to clear out the last of this larger stock, which is limited (and I won’t be selling it again after this opening, sorry!).
I’ll then have one more store opening before Christmas, which will be for paper products only (art prints, bookmarks, notebooks, 2023 calendars), and there’s some amazing new artwork that I can’t wait to share with you, so keep an eye out for when I’ll be doing that (most likely late November/early December, so things can reach you in time for Christmas.)
INTERNATIONAL BOOK NEWS:
In the last month, the US and UK paperback edition of The Gilded Cage released, as did the Spanish edition of The Prison Healer, and the Czech Republic edition of The Gilded Cage. These are all so gorgeous!!!
From the Medoran side of things, I’ve already mentioned the Turkish release of Akarnae, but for the US, the hardcover edition of Draekora is releasing on November 1st, so keep an eye out for that!
WRAP UP:
I think that’s about all the news I have for you! I haven’t been reading anything since I’ve been busy drafting, BUT I’ve been watching some fun shows while exercising and/or taking quick brain breaks, and these are a few of my faves from the last month:
Welcome to Wrexham (omigosh I was SO INVESTED in this!!)
Aftershock: Everest and the Nepal Earthquake
Fate: The Winx Saga (season 2)
Roswell, New Mexico (season 4)
The Imperfects
I also saved The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power for when I finished drafting, so I’m currently working my way through that now and loving it. Talk about visually spectacular! *Insert all the heart eyes*
Aaaaaaand that’s all! I’ll catch you all again next month (ish), and in the meantime, you can see my daily updates on my social media (mostly my Insta Stories)!
